Ushers

Ushering is a fairly straightforward position: ushers stand at the ends of the aisles before each service and hand out The Messenger.

During the service, ushers hand out flowers to new comers, receive the offering, tend to details such as making sure the minister's water pitcher is filled and the programs are in place, and after the service, they help straighten the Sanctuary.

While the tasks involved are simple, it is the ushers who make the service run smoothly; they are the "behind the scenes" support to the ministers and to the members, so this is a vital service.

Ushers may choose 1 Sunday per month, either the 9:00 a.m. or the 11:00 a.m. service and should honor the commitment they make to be in attendance on their chosen Sunday.  Ushers must be willing to come before the service and to stay after to straighten up and, if one commits to a service and cannot make it, one should find a replacement or let the Head Usher know so that a replacement can be found.

Ushering is an extremely rewarding job, especially for people who are new to the center, because it allows them to meet many, many people of the community, to be in direct support of the ministers, and to be in service to the community as a whole.
