Kitchen Friends

Kitchen Friends is a great group for many kinds of people because not only is it a perfect way to meet people, it is also the perfect opportunity for people who enjoy entertaining or cooking for others.

Those on the Kitchen Friends Team set up the refreshments before the service and keep refreshments full after the service. There are two teams: one for the 9am service and one for the 11am service. The 11am team also breaks things down as people begin to leave.

Volunteers choose one Sunday per month (1st, 2nd, etc.) and attend for one service on that Sunday. But if you cannot make it, it is very easy to find a replacement as people are generally very flexible. If this kind of commitment is too much, you can also be a “floater”: a person who fills in on Sundays when someone is needed.

While the church provides the food and supplies, this is a perfect place for people who enjoy baking or cooking for others as other snacks are always welcome—but not required! It is also a good place for those whose creative tendencies run in the decorating realm, for table arrangements are up to the team to create.

The Kitchen Friends Team is vital to the “creation of community at Unity.” So the personal rewards, in addition to fulfilling that entertaining bug, are providing fellow members the opportunity to have fellowship and community in a warm and loving atmosphere.
