Special Membership Meeting on July 10th

Question: What is the purpose of the meeting?

Answer: To address and vote a congregational matter regarding the retention of Senior Minister and CEO, Rev. Doris Hoskins.

Question: What is being done for the congregation to unite after such a vote?

Answer: Immediately after the vote and close of the meeting, a Sacred Circle will take place in the Fellowship Hall, located on the lower level. ALL are invited to share & connect with what one is feeling at this moment. It will be an opportunity to connect, share and pray regarding our beloved New Thought Unity Center.

A Sacred Circle will take place each and every Sunday to strengthen our community. Also, there will be ongoing Community Conversations to build the future of our ministry together.

Question: Is the Board ready for what happens after the vote?

Answer: The Board has prepared in-depth plans for any outcome to address the administrative, financial and spiritual matters of the Center.

Bylaw Amendment Process:

Question: The current definition for an active member needs to be reviewed?

Answer: A joint congregational and board task force will be created in the Fall to review and propose bylaw changes for the March 2012 annual meeting.

Annual Review Process for Senior Minister:

Question: Regarding the Minister’s Performance Review by the NTUC Board. As far as I know,
the last time an official performance review was done was in 2007/2008. It is my understanding that the Minister is to be reviewed annually as part of the employment contract and the Board is responsible for carrying out this
performance review. The question is – were annual performance reviews conducted in 2009 and 2010?

Answer: There were no annual performance reviews conducted in 2008, 2009 or 2010,@just the Mutual Ministry Review.

Question: If not, why not?

Answer:
In February, 2008 the Board adopted the Mutual Ministry Review Guide.@ As stated in the Guide, "Mutual ministry is a radical reframing of the idea that strong individuals are solely responsible for the well-being of the whole community. Mutual Ministry Review changes the focus from individual accountability to community accountability.Ministry is the work of the board, staff, lay leadership and congregation not just the minister. To be consistent with our mission, planning and reviewing must be done in a way that builds trust rather than break down the spiritual community. Mutual Ministry Review is a way to ask. "What have we done well?" "It is a time to celebrate what have we done well and to understand what we would like to take to the next level?" "How can we serve?" And then, "How do we best fulfill our mission"?

The first Mutual Ministry Review was on April 12, 2008 and called Stepping into Our Vision -- Designing Our Future Together and was facilitated by Susan Beck.@ Another Review was in October, 2009 again led by Susan Beck.@ Upon conclusion, she recommended to the Board that we were at a place where we could consider having a Mutual Ministry Review every two years.

It is the understanding that the Mutual Ministry Review fulfills the responsibility of the contract.
